RTF is here to answer this common question -- so survivors don’t have to. There are many reasons why survivors stay in an abusive relationship:➡️ Fear: Leaving an abusive relationship can be dangerous. An abusive partner can be extremely threatening…

Domestic violence is a silent epidemic affecting our communities with rates increasing amid the pandemic.

One key feature found in most abusive relationships is an abusive partner trying to gain power and control using various methods, at different moments. But, identifying an abuser doesn’t always look the same.

Common signs of abusive behavior may look like the following:

➡️ Destroying your belongings or your home

➡️ Preventing you from making your own decisions

➡️ Preventing or discouraging you from spending time with friends or family

If any of these resonate with you, you are not alone. If you are in need of help and would like support, please send us a message.

We see you. We hear you. We are survivors, too.

In 2010, Lauren Grinnell founded Runway to Freedom after she experienced domestic violence firsthand. After many years in an abusive relationship, she was able to escape her situation.

While working through her own recovery, she started RTF with the goal of helping others find freedom from domestic violence as well.

Now in its 10th year, RTF is committed to empowering survivors with education and resources needed to get out of dangerous situations.

If you are a survivor, visit our website at the link in bio to find support now.

If you are an advocate, please reshare this post or post to your stories to bring awareness, so we can work together to #enddv.

At Runway to Freedom, we believe that sharing your traumatic experience with others in a safe space can be extremely liberating.

We believe sharing your story allows you to become a survivor, rather than an abuser’s victim forever.

Sharing can be extremely difficult for many survivors. It may take time. There may be many ups and downs on the path to healing, but voicing your experience aloud can often be empowering.
